Is TeleHealth Available for Physio Treatments?

With the Corona Virus keeping Australian's at home, many of the tennis players I regularly work with have asked if we can do TeleHealth treatments. Of course! It's not time to relax and stop your training. It's a perfect time to work on your recovery of minor or major injuries to ensure you are 100% fit for when training and competition resumes.

With the advancement of digital technology over the last few years, many medical providers have begun offering TeleHealth to their clients.

Physiotherapy has proven to be a successful transition to this online consultation format for diagnosis and treatment of certain condition. Of course a video session cannot provide the hands on treatment that many sports people are used to, however most of the value of physiotherapy is the advice given, the ongoing exercises and rehabilitation work completed by the athlete post consultation.

After touring on the WTA and ATP World Tour foe several years, I am quite used to doing virtual consultations with professional tennis players. I found this method very effective during my travels, and would like to now offer this service to my regular clients.

One of the barriers to using TeleHealth has been the resistance of private health companies to provide rebates for online consultation, but in the current climate this is changing. Here is a statement from Private Healthcare Australia on the topic.

Private health funds are fast tracking access for members to tele-physiotherapy consultations while Australians’ movements are restricted by the COVID 19 pandemic.

Of course check with your private health insurance provider to see if they will accept your claims.

While you have time off the court, why not get your body prepared for the next season with professional TeleHeath treatments.

To book a session simply visit our website here.
